Today we started our feeding program. It was definitely one of the most incredible moments that I have had here. The kids sat down with their bowl of pap (mielie meal porridge) and dug in. It was SO hot, but some of them couldn't wait to let it cool. After they had all eaten, I watched these children change into different kids. They ran around, singing and dancing and laughing like crazy. When I asked Joaquina what was going on she just "Lorena, this is what a good meal does. They have energy now." How incredible to be a part of a program like this. These children need this meal. One bowl of porridge and they are ready to take on the day in a completely different way. Imagine what will happen when we get to give them some nutritious soup!
